‘Young artistes have reduced quality of music’- Korede Bello

Nigerian singer Korede Bello has said that young artistes have reduced the quality of music coming out of the country.

The 28-year-old spoke in a recent episode of Hip TV’s programme Trending, hosted by reality star KimOprah.

According to him, young artists lack the experience to make quality music. He claimed that the younger an artist attains stardom, the more the quality of their music declines.

Bello said, “When you start to have young artists blowing up, the quality of the music starts to reduce because they don’t have quality experiences.

“They don’t know how to live yet. Young people don’t yet know how to live, they just know that they are living. They want to live large, so that’s what they’re going to sing about.

“If you listen to an African China, where he’s coming from, he has seen things. Timaya, Fela—all have experiences. Their songs are expressions of reality. We should not blame these young artists; you can only give what you have.”

Chale Wote Street Art Festival 2024 opens in Accra

The 14th edition of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival opened in Accra on Monday with a silent procession through the Osu township, with participants clad in all-white attires.

There was a declaration by the team at the Christiansborg castle and the opening of the Shika Shika Art Fair in the Garden.

Other activities during the first day of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival were a royal music performance by the Osu Klottey School of African Music, Dagara Music Centre performance, Nyonmo Y3 Jen Cultural Group dance performance, a film screening, and conversations.

Themed ‘And Now An End To The Empire Of Horrors,’ it draws inspiration from some of Africa’s deepest history that lies in the Gulf of Guinea. Chale Wote seeks to artistically focus on the tales of the fantastic and mortal gods from the Gulf of Guinea, which can be understood as allegories that illustrate the social conditions created by genocidal squatter colonialism.

Chale Wote 2024 explores the history of the place through its origins and an examination of it in relation to its death and the current rebirth of its sacred sciences, long forgotten and buried with the giants. The event will curate a multiplicity of counterhegemonic narratives about this rebirth in their most spectacular form through art and entertainment.

The one-week-long festival will be held from Monday, August 19, to Sunday, August 25, 2024. Therefore, selected artists will be expected to release the works from August 10 to 18, 2024, and have them ready for display from the beginning to the climax of the festival.

PSquare split again – Rudeboy confirms

Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, has confirmed that the music group PSquare has broken up for the second time.

In an interview with City FM, Lagos, he revealed that the split was due to creative differences and personal issues.

Rudeboy denied claims that he belittled his brother Peter’s role in the group, saying he was wrongly accused of saying he was the singer and Peter was the dancer.

He explained that Peter told him he was no longer interested in the group and didn’t want to make it public.

Rudeboy also mentioned that they had different visions for their music, and he wanted to share creative responsibilities equally.

“The plan of our coming back together was going to produce a lot of hit albums. But as it is now, I’m just focusing on Rudeboy. Trust me, it is not everything that I would want to say.

“I was being accused of saying that he [Peter] was the dancer and I’m the singer. I know whenever we go to the airport, people ask are you a singer or a dancer? I didn’t know it was touching him. But I know there was a time we came together and said, ‘Don’t allow this thing get to you, you should be proud of what you’re doing. That’s the role you’re playing.’

“We have a song we did with T.I., ‘Eja Jo’. That was when the issue started. Till today, that song still on 3 million views because people didn’t hear the PSquare’s voice that they are used to.

“When we came back together because I didn’t want the issues that happened before, I told my brother to show himself and let us be involved in the creative process together. I told him we should share who carries the tracks equally but still, it wasn’t working.

“The new PSquare was peaceful. I needed the past mistakes not to repeat themselves. But then again he [Peter] said he’s no more doing [no longer interested]. In fact, he told me in the face that he wanted to quit. I asked if we could make it public and he refused. But what will happen when I go solo? People will call me a bad person. That’s why I’m speaking up now.”

‘Don’t worship me’ – Adom Kyei-Duah warns followers

Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah, the Founder and Head Pastor of Believers Worship Center, has warned his followers to refrain from worshipping him.

During one of his sermons to his congregation, the controversial preacher explained that while it is through him that God reveals the truth to humanity, he should not be worshipped. Christians and his followers must not worship him.

He said, “It is through me that you know and have come to know the truth. Give me that honor, but never worship me. Show me respect, but do not worship me. That is all I ask of you.”

He cautioned that his spirit would retaliate against anyone who decides to worship him after he passes on to his father in heaven.

“Last time I warned you all, if you dare come to my grave with the intention of worshipping me, I will come back to give you a slap,” he added.

In the same sermon, he issued a strong warning to those who have photoshopped his head onto images of Jesus Christ.

He expressed his dislike for the traditional representation of Jesus Christ as a White man that has been used for centuries.

Addressing his congregation, Adom Kyei-Duah voiced his disapproval of using a White man to depict Jesus Christ.

He cautioned graphic designers against attaching his face, head, or any body part to that image.

“To those of you who have combined my image with that of the White man, I despise that body, I dislike that hair. Hear me, I abhor that attire and I detest that style of dressing,” Adom Kyei-Duah told his congregation in a widely circulated social media video.

The preacher advised his congregation and Christians in general to accept him as he is and only use his image to represent Jesus Christ.
