Dr. Bannor: Next dev’t stage hinges on Bawumia’s digitalization

A Development Economist and Head of Research at the Danquah Institute (DI), Dr. Frank Bannor, has lauded Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalization vision, and called on the electorate to vote massively for the NPP’s presidential candidate in the December 7 general elections.

In an interview on Wontumi Radio, Movement TV and MyABC TV over the weekend, Dr. Bannor said the future was digitalization and artificial intelligence, as championed by Dr. Bawumia.

“For Ghana’s economy to compete favourably with the rest of the world, we need Bawumia’s digitalization. We can only move into the next stage of our development with the kind of vision being espoused by Vice President Bawumia,” he indicated.

Dr. Bannor further noted that the age of cutlasses and hoes was long gone because digitalization was the only driving force behind the next Industrial Revolution.

“Artificial intelligence and digitalization drive the world today. Cutlasses and hoes are relics of the past. Without digitalization and artificial intelligence, there is no economy today. This is why we must all support Dr. Bawumia and his vision of digitalization and artificial intelligence,” he added.

He said Dr. Bawumia’s digitalization agenda was centered on artificial intelligence, emphasizing the need for the youth to support and vote for the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the 2024 elections slated for December 7.

“We have moved past brick and mortar leadership. The world has advanced 15 years beyond bricks and mortar. We cannot play catch-up with a leader whose ideas are old-fashioned; a Stone Age leader cannot help the country in its digitalization agenda. We need Bawumia to take us to the world of digitalization and artificial intelligence,” he said.

Dr Bawumia’s promise to train a million youth in digitalization and artificial intelligence is the surest way for Ghana to be propelled to the next millennium, according to Dr. Frank Bannor.

“It is for this reason that I am urging the youth, in particular, to embrace the digitalization mindset of Dr. Bawumia by supporting, campaigning, and voting for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he stated.

Information Minister opens 3rd Media Capacity Enhancement Programme

The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has opened the 3rd Media Capacity Enhancement Programme (MCEP) to enhance the skills of journalists and media practitioners, ensuring a high standard of professionalism across the country.

in her remarks at the openeing ceremony on tuesday, September 10, 2024, she said, “MoI in collaboration with the University of Media Arts and Communications (UniMAC) seek to position the media to play its role effectively as the fourth estate in our governance system. The programme aligns with one of the key strategic objectives of the Ministry, which is to improve the participation of civil society in our national development.”

“Key beneficiaries of the programme are reporters, commentators, producers, directors, social media executives, anchors, editors, owners of media organisations, media critics, analysts and civil society organisations.”

Mrs Fatimatu Abubakar noted that the training was essential in enhancing the media professionalism and supporting the country’s democratic processes.

She urged journalists to avoid partisan stunts and adhere to the ethics of the profession.

She stated, “The media is a powerful tool that carries great responsibility. Uphold honesty and truth in your work. As journalists, it is essential to remain dedicated to the ethical standards of the profession.”

The Minister further advised the participants to make the most of the training because the knowledge and experiences gained would help them advance in their careers.

“Take in the richness of knowledge, participate actively and learn from the esteemed facilitators, the tools gained from the programme would enable you to make meaningful contributions to the nation’s progress,” she added.

The 2024 MCEP, themed “Equipping the Media to Play an Effective Role in Nation Building,” focused on training 100 journalists from various media houses across the country.

Embrace peace, reject divisive rhetoric – Bawumia

The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to participate in the upcoming 2024 December polls actively.

Delivering a speech at the Oguaa Fetu Afahye, Dr Bawumia took the opportunity to address the importance of the upcoming elections.

In his speech, he highlighted the role elections play as a cornerstone of Ghana’s democracy, allowing citizens to exercise their right to choose their leaders and shape the nation’s future.

As the Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival brought people together, Dr. Bawumia underscored its significance, reminding attendees to cherish their heritage and work towards a prosperous Ghana.

He expressed hope that the festival would inspire a renewed commitment to the country’s people, culture, and unity.
