Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has arrived in Washington DC to lead the NPP-USA Incorporated as they celebrate their 30th anniversary since the chapter was established.

The celebration is themed; “30 Years of Political Dedication and Sacrifice: Honouring our Heroes, Preserving our Legacy, Securing our Future through Victory.” The celebration will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia.

About 1,000 members of the NPP in the United States are expected to attend the event with several others thousands of NPP supporters in the US and around the world are expected to join in the celebration through video link and on various social media platforms and handles.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, the parent party of NPP-USA celebrated its 30th Anniversary in July 2022 under the theme; “NPP@30: Our Shared Traditional, Holding and Working Together a Stable and Prosperous Nation.” As part of the celebration, the party held a National Thanksgiving Service at the Kofi Ohene-Konadu auditorium at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on 31 July 2022, to climax the celebration.

NPP-USA as part of their anniversary celebration event at the Hilton hotel will also be holding their annual fundraising ahead of the 7 December 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. The NPP is working towards winning a third consecutive election in Ghana (“dubbed, breaking the 8”) having won the 2016, and 2020 led by President Akufo-Addo.

At the anniversary ceremony, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to aggregate his “Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions” agenda to the NPP rank and file in the United States who will be congregating for the anniversary celebration. Dr Bawumia is also likely to solicit the support of the NPP-USA for his campaign and to assure them that he is going to put up a spirited “fight” for the presidency of Ghana ahead of the 7 December 2024 general election.

A 68-member planning committee led by Mr Emmanuel Yaw Mensah as its Chairman and co-chaired by Mr James Owusu, NPP Cincinnati, Ohio and Mr Janis Asare-Bediako, NPP Washington DC, WA, with Mr Bright Osei-Bonsu Gyimah, NPP Boston, spearheaded the entire process of organizing the NPP-USA 30 anniversary celebrations.
