
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has listed persons expected to take up key positions in his government when elected as Ghana’s President in the forthcoming general elections in December.
According to a viral social media publication, Mr Mahama in a letter dated May 27, 2024 which was signed by him and copied to the National Chairman and General Secretary of the NDC urged the party’s Appointment Committee to undertake the necessary steps and confirm the competences of the individuals.
They are Stan Xoese Dogbe as Chief of Staff, Joyce Bawa Mogtari as Executive Secretary to the President, Kofi Totobi Quakyi as National Security Advisor, Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (Rtd)- National Security Coordinator, Defence- James Agalga Esq., Interior- Peter Lanchene Toobu.
Also included in the list are Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter Boamah Otokunor for Agric, John Jinapor as Energy Minister, Julius Deborah- Trade and Industry, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah- Health and Dominic Ayine Esq as Education Minister.
The rest are Kwame Awuah-Darko for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Nartey George as Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu- Road and Transport, Dr. Randy Abbey- Youth and Sports, Martin Kpebu as Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Kevin Ekow Taylor- Information Minister, and Dorcas Affo-Toffey as Gender Minister.
“The primary objective of presenting this list at this juncture is to ensure that the next NDC government is prepared to hit the ground running, thereby meeting the high expectations of the Ghanaian populace. The individuals on this list have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to our party, significantly contributing to enhancing our electoral fortunes through their relentless efforts and loyalty,” the report said.
“I request that the Appointments Committee of the party undertake the necessary background checks and vetting processes to confirm the competence and suitability of these individuals for their respective portfolios,” it added.
The report also claimed that “The positions of Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Candidates on the list shall however be guaranteed upon securing victory in the Parliamentary elections. The proposed list is attached herewith for your reference and necessary action.”
