The government has handed over a newly constructed Audit Service building at Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as part of its effort to promote the independence and transparency of the Service.

The Effiduase office is the fifth of 16 district Audit Service offices being constructed under this initiative. The project was funded by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) of Germany to provide auditors with dedicated spaces to work independently of district assemblies, thereby enhancing the integrity of their operations.

Speaking at the ceremony on Friday (29 November), Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah (Hon) highlighted the government’s commitment to infrastructural development, mentioning plans to commission five hospitals by the end of the year.

He also urged citizens to maintain peace during and after the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of national unity.

For his part the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sekyere East, Hon. Osei Adiyiah, lauded the project as a significant milestone not only for the Audit Service but also for the Sekyere East constituency.

He emphasized how the facility would enhance the capacity of auditors to perform their duties effectively and foster accountability in public institutions.
